Hi everyone my name is Jessica Flores. I am a18 years old senior at Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School. I am currently living in California with my parents, younger brother and three dogs.

I am creating this website for my senior project, where we have to choose a medical related topic, research about it, educate others, and help out a community that can relate to our topic. Although I am doing this because of my senior project one of the most important reason as to why I chose this particular topic is because my grandmother was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and lived with the disease for about 20 years before it progressed to diabetic nephropathy. My grandmother passed away in 2007. Because my grandma was diagnosed with diabetes I know that like others with a similar situation, I am at great risk of developing this disease, and that is why I want to raise awareness of this deadly disease.

The senior project at my school is an intense requirement to graduate, with a lot of work and dedication on the student’s part to graduate and also dedication and commitment by the teacher to help the students succeed. The objective of my senior project is to educate and raise awareness about what people can do once having this disease, or what one can do to prevent this disease.

            Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School, or better known as Health Professions, is a small public high school with about 300 students located in the Upper Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento, California. It is part of the Sacramento City Unified School District and focuses its education on the medical field. This High School is named after Mr. Arthur A Benjamin because of his great contributions to district students and this school.
